About the Role
Man Group is a global alternative investment management firm focused on Systematic, Discretionary and Solutions offerings, managing $253.6 billion in assets. We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will build and maintain automation frameworks that underpin our infrastructure operations supporting global trading and research systems.

You will design, implement, and maintain infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, orchestration platforms, and monitoring systems to enable reliable and scalable services. Collaborating closely with infrastructure, development, and platform teams, you will drive automation initiatives and leverage AI development tools to accelerate delivery.

This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies at scale, managing tens of thousands of cores and hundreds of terabytes of memory supporting python-based quantitative research and trading systems. You will operate Kubernetes clusters, design infrastructure provisioning solutions using Terraform and Ansible, and create self-service platforms empowering hundreds of users across Man Group.

Experience
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or Salt
- Proven experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production
- Strong knowledge of observability and monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Confident working across Unix-based systems (Ubuntu, RHEL, or similar) and Windows Server environments
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Powershell, Bash, or Go
- Understanding of CI/CD principles and tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, security best practices, and infrastructure architecture
- Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
- Willingness and ability to work effectively with AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow

Qualifications
- Experience with container technologies beyond Kubernetes (e.g., Docker) is advantageous
- Knowledge of GitOps workflows and tools such as ArgoCD or Flux is beneficial
- Familiarity with security and secrets management using HashiCorp Vault is preferred
- Understanding of storage systems integration with modern architectures is a plus
- Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries is desirable
