About the Role
Amazon's Ops Tech Design Execution (ODX) Team is seeking an experienced Senior Telecoms Design Program Manager / Telecoms Design SME to lead IT infrastructure design and delivery programs for Amazon logistics operations buildings globally. You will act as a technical authority on structured cabling, wireless, and physical network design, coordinating requirements across internal teams and external vendors. This role involves influencing global best practices, driving collaboration with multi-disciplinary stakeholders, and developing innovative design practices and processes for both standard and custom infrastructure programs.

You will contribute to QA/QC frameworks, support AI-driven tooling and automation adoption, and help establish dashboards and metrics to provide leadership visibility on design quality and throughput. The role requires hands-on telecoms design expertise, including structured cabling systems (copper, fibre, wireless) and relevant standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC). Proficiency in Autodesk design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit is essential, as you will partner with the internal BIM design team and other Amazon teams on BIM integration and design templatisation.

This position demands agility to manage multiple projects across various geographical locations, strong judgment, negotiation skills, and the ability to deliver results on time and on budget within a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. You will be a key technical leader and point of contact for telecoms design escalations, working closely with BIM technicians, external design partners, TIPMs, and engineering teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities include project managing telecoms design projects, providing technical input, participating in design coordination and reviews, supporting QA/QC processes, driving automation adoption, mentoring designers and BIM technicians, and recording and reporting key metrics. The role requires a minimum of 25% travel.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum 10 years in telecoms design including cabling infrastructure design and deployment program management. Proven background in IT infrastructure design and consulting, not just project management. Experience working independently and within teams, coordinating with internal groups and external suppliers, vendors, and contractors.

Proficiency in Autodesk design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with BIM integration and telecoms design templatisation. Demonstrated ability to influence management and work in a fast-paced environment focused on continuous innovation.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to support assumptions and develop business cases. Excellent communication skills to clearly convey data insights.

About you
Technical authority in telecoms infrastructure design (structured cabling, fibre, copper, wireless). Strategic thinker with methodical execution. Team player with strong judgment and negotiation skills. Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects across global locations. Passionate about innovation and continuous improvement.

Agile and adaptable, able to work effectively in ambiguous and fast-moving environments. Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.

Qualifications
BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) credential or equivalent is required. IT industry qualifications such as BICSI RCDD and CNet Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional (CNIDP) are preferred.
