We’re looking for someone to oversee our online Octoverse. The role: be chronically online on behalf of our customers and brand, and use the resulting knowledge to surprise & delight customers, help reform energy, and make us famous. What do we need you to do (and be)? You’re… Chronically online & customer-obsessed Someone who gets people, and how they engage with social media Happiest working ‘quick and dirty’ without a lot of rigorous planning and scheduling Genuinely passionate about making a big green dent in the universe T-shaped: it’s great to have social media experience; but even more important that you’re adaptable and happy to have a crack at everything You have... The ability to make the written word sing At least a year’s experience posting & creating content across major social media platforms, with some practical experience using social listening tools. Some video creation and editing experience (think TikTok, not Titanic). Most of your time will be spent deeply embedded in the social media Octoverse. That means… Overseeing our UK retail social channels particularly "X", but also everywhere from Instagram, to Reddit, TikTok, Linkedin, and Facebook) to understand wider trends and what customers, government and industry are saying about Octopus, energy, and climate. Guiding our talented team of Community Managers. They’re fully trained to give outrageously good service to our customers — for an audience of thousands live on social media, 8am-10pm 7 days a week. You’ll be there to support them (in shifts) and help with the most commercially sensitive situations. Content creation: responding quickly and thoughtfully to trends, crises, and great viral content opportunities. Social media is 24/7. Being completely upfront, if you need to switch off at 5.30, it’s not the job for you. Habitual lurking in WhatsApp groups, Slack & social media comes with the territory and you’ll need to be OK working a Sunday miracle for a customer or spending your evening commute crafting the perfect tweet. You won’t work 24/7 of course: there are enough of us to keep an eye whenever you need to be off-grid. What you'll love about us.. Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us!
