About the Role
Join the Guardian and be part of a diverse and inclusive global organisation delivering fearless, investigative journalism that holds power to account. As a Social Video Producer (Podcasts), you will film, edit, and produce engaging video and graphical content to grow the audience for the award-winning Today in Focus podcast and other Guardian shows across social media and video channels. You will cover a wide range of UK and international stories including housing, pop culture, elections, conflict, education, human rights, technology, and investigations.

You will work closely with producers, executive producers, and hosts to generate ideas for presenting and promoting episodes on social channels, as well as creating additional content to engage audiences. Responsibilities include operating studio cameras, directing podcast video shoots, editing social video content, briefing guests, and ensuring the highest levels of creativity, editorial, and legal standards.

Additional duties involve exploring new ways to connect with audiences through explainers, image carousels, and behind-the-scenes content, assisting with YouTube optimisation, managing and responding to comments on social platforms, and providing data analysis on content performance.

Requirements

Experience
- Using video editing software, ideally Adobe Premiere
- Shooting video in and outside studio settings
- Directing multi-camera video podcast shoots
- Understanding design tools such as Photoshop and Figma
- YouTube channel management and search engine optimisation
- Community engagement and audience data analysis on YouTube and social platforms
- Interpreting audience metrics to guide creative and strategic decisions
- Delivering high-quality outputs under strict, recurring deadlines
- Knowledge of Guardian podcasts and what makes compelling episodes
- Understanding of media law
- Active interest in UK and global current affairs
