About the Role
Alexa for Shopping (AFS) is a generative AI-powered shopping assistant within the Amazon Shopping app designed to help customers find and discover the best products by assisting with product research, providing comparisons and recommendations, and answering specific product questions. We are seeking passionate pioneers in technology, innovation, and customer experience to join the AFS team. In this role, you will design and lead the development of unique and engaging features used by millions of customers worldwide. You will be part of a creative team that encourages experimentation and innovation, building quick prototypes and proofs of concept in collaboration with other technology leaders. You will tackle novel technical challenges daily and work closely with multiple Amazon teams. This role offers an opportunity to learn, have fun, and make a positive impact on millions of people. Key responsibilities include working with product management and cross-functional teams to implement and improve technical solutions, collaborating with design teams to define the best user experience, managing assigned tasks and on-call duties, owning features end-to-end, participating in hiring and mentoring, supporting knowledge-sharing, and communicating clearly within and outside the team.
Experience
- Professional, non-internship software development experience
- Programming proficiency in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience with full software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations

Strong judgment and communication skills, long-term technical vision, and continuous focus on engineering and operational excellence. Proficient technically and committed to software development best practices with an ability to iterate quickly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Preferred: Experience contributing to architecture and design of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
- Preferred: Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers
