About the Role
Rufus is a generative AI-powered shopping assistant within the Amazon Shopping app designed to help customers answer a variety of shopping-related questions. It simplifies product research by providing comparisons, recommendations, and answers to specific product queries. We are seeking passionate pioneers in technology, innovation, and customer experience to join the Rufus team.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will design and lead the development of unique and engaging features used by millions of customers worldwide. You will be part of a creative and passionate team that encourages experimentation and innovation. Your role includes building quick prototypes or proofs of concept in collaboration with technology leaders, tackling novel technical challenges daily, and working with multiple Amazon teams.
You will have full vertical end-to-end ownership of your features, work closely with product management and design teams to deliver the best user experience, and actively participate in hiring and mentoring. This role requires strong technical proficiency, a customer obsession mindset, and a bias for action, with a focus on engineering and operational excellence.
Experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- Professional software development experience (non-internship)
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience leading architecture and design of new and existing systems, including reliability and scaling
- Recent development experience within the last 3 years

Qualifications
