About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Software Engineer with a strong focus on Android development to join an established and evolving project team. This hands-on technical role involves designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting modern Android applications using Kotlin. You will contribute to broader engineering, deployment, and operational initiatives across the platform ecosystem.

The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in native Android development alongside broader software engineering and DevOps capabilities. You will work on mobile application development, CI/CD processes, operational support, and have exposure to Windows/.NET environments.

Key responsibilities include building scalable, secure, and maintainable mobile solutions aligned with modern Android engineering best practices; integrating Android applications with backend APIs, enterprise services, and third-party systems; implementing secure coding practices including encryption and secure data handling; managing local data storage solutions such as SQLite databases; collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, DevOps, and product stakeholders; contributing to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation; troubleshooting and resolving application defects and performance issues; participating in code reviews and technical design discussions; supporting Windows/.NET components and integrations; and contributing to technical documentation and engineering standards.

Experience
- Strong commercial experience in Android application development using Kotlin
- Solid understanding of modern Android development frameworks, patterns, and best practices
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and backend services into mobile applications
- Proven implementation of secure mobile development practices including encryption and secure data management
- Strong experience with SQLite or similar mobile database technologies
- Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and DevOps practices
- Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and application performance optimisation skills
- Familiarity with source control, branching strategies, and collaborative software development
- Experience working within Agile or iterative software delivery environments

About you
- Strong problem-solving capability and attention to detail
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work onsite at the client location five days per week
- Holds current HLC security clearance (mandatory)
- Previous experience in secure, government, defence, or highly regulated environments is highly regarded

Qualifications
- Proven track record in Android development with Kotlin
- Knowledge of Java, C#, and Windows/.NET environments is advantageous

- Willingness to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical documentation
