As a Software Engineer within the International Consumer Bank, you will play a crucial role in delivering an outstanding banking experience to our customers. You will work in a collaborative environment as part of a diverse, inclusive, and geographically distributed team. We seek individuals with a curious mindset and a keen interest in new technology. You will work on improving the reliability, resilience, observability, and operability of customer-facing digital banking services. This includes building automation, defining measurable reliability practices, reducing operational friction, and partnering with engineering teams to ensure services are designed, delivered, and operated with reliability in mind.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with development teams to enhance the developer experience by providing tools and infrastructure supporting agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment. You will identify problems, propose solutions, and execute software design, development, operations, and technical troubleshooting. You will develop secure, high-quality full stack production code, review and debug code, and support the products you build through the full lifecycle, including production support and incident management.
Additionally, you will collaborate with teams to understand the functional requirements of existing complex business applications, apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
You will contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies, and promote a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Experience
- Practical knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, including system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Ability to develop, debug, and maintain code using modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Good understanding of Java 17+ fundamentals, concurrency, memory management, and object-oriented programming paradigms.
- Hands-on experience with Spring and server-side frameworks such as Spring Boot.
- Strong API design skills.
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices and frameworks.
- Knowledge of integration technologies such as REST APIs.
- Experience with Public Cloud services in production, preferably AWS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Experience in architecting, supporting, and implementing CI/CD migrations.
- Preferable experience with front-end languages and frameworks such as TypeScript and React.
- Practical cloud native experience, preferably on AWS.
- Solid understanding of agile practices, including continuous integration and delivery, application resiliency, and security.
- Understanding of responsible engineering practices, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.

Qualifications
- Familiarity with modern back-end technologies, particularly Enterprise Java and Spring Boot framework.
- Knowledge of UX design concepts such as responsive web design.
- Understanding of microservices architecture.
- Debugging expertise in Kubernetes.
- Understanding of infrastructure tools, preferably Terraform, and AWS services.
- Experience with enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools is a plus.
