About the Role
Be an integral part of a team that's constantly pushing the envelope to enhance, build, and deliver top-notch technology products. As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Global Banking Platform (GBP), you will contribute to building the next generation core banking platform operating at a global scale, supporting hundreds of millions of accounts. The role involves working with cloud-native technologies, developing microservices, integrations, dashboards, production support tools, and CI/CD pipelines.

Initially, successful candidates will be seconded to a FinTech software partner, providing an exciting opportunity to experience the day-to-day operations of a fintech while being fully backed by JPMorgan Chase. After the secondment, you will return to JPMorgan Chase to apply the knowledge, technologies, and practices acquired to develop critical services supporting GBP's worldwide journey to the cloud.

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and developing scalable, performant microservices using software engineering best practices; writing secure, high-quality code and automated tests; producing architecture and design artifacts; proactively identifying and resolving hidden problems in code and data; managing deployments from testing to production; collaborating with other engineering teams; translating product requirements into trackable tickets; contributing to engineering communities and events; fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect; and leveraging enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity while ensuring secure coding standards and validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.

Experience
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with applied experience
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proficient in at least one major programming language: Go, Python, and/or Java
- Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform
- Experience developing automated tests as part of the development cycle
- Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
- Experience with any cloud provider
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools with ability to critically evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows including data sensitivity, secure handling, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations

Qualifications
- Preferred knowledge of banking and finance
- Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes (CKE), and Terraform are advantageous
- Familiarity with databases (SQL or NoSQL)
- Experience with client/server software architectures, networking, or microservice architectures
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry
- Experience with streaming architectures and tools like Kafka
