As a Web Engineer at JPM Personal Investing, you will be responsible for the web applications that power Nutmeg. You will deliver product features end-to-end within a cross-functional team comprising Engineering and Product. Our tech stack is fully aligned across the web ecosystem, utilizing team-owned mono-repos powered by an internal React Design system, enabling scalable delivery.

You will join a friendly and collaborative group of talented engineers who actively share ideas through meetings, guilds and pairing sessions. Your primary focus will be to build great user-friendly experiences for our customers.

Key responsibilities include developing and delivering product features as part of domain-owned epic initiatives, identifying and resolving prioritised defects, ensuring high-quality code through testing and best practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in code reviews, maintaining technical documentation, building domain knowledge, actively engaging in scrum ceremonies, and considering Accessibility (WCAG), Security, Observability and Performance in all deliverables.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven track record of building and maintaining customer-centric web applications and single-page applications (SPAs).
- Strong proficiency in React and its core principles.
- Solid understanding of web fundamentals including HTML5 (semantics and structure), CSS (responsive design and specificity), JavaScript ES6, and general networking concepts (HTTP, IP, DNS, caching).
- Experience with browser developer tools such as Chrome Developer Tools.
- Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest or React Testing Library.
- Understanding of build tools like Webpack, Vite or Parcel.
- Knowledge of CSS preprocessors such as SASS, CSS Modules, and JavaScript compilation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive communication and ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Preferred experience includes Kubernetes, GraphQL, Node.js, working with GraphQL APIs, feature flagging and A/B testing.
- Exposure to React Native and other JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Vue, Next.js or Gatsby is advantageous.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies beyond Scrum.
- Experience delivering on cloud platforms and familiarity with AWS.
- Experience with design systems, UI development and white-labelling.
- Commercial experience in the finance industry is a plus.
