About the Role
Lendscape builds lending software used by financial institutions across the UK, Europe, Asia, and the United States. As we grow, our Account Management function is the engine of client retention and expansion. This 6-month fixed-term contract role is a senior engineering position focused on embedding quality engineering practices across the organisation. This is not a traditional testing role — the successful candidate will apply strong software engineering skills to ensure our software is testable, observable, and reliably high-quality. Working alongside Senior QA Engineers within the Quality Assurance team, you will own the tools, frameworks, and pipelines that underpin quality at Lendscape. A significant part of the role includes leveraging AI tools to migrate frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the migration from the legacy QFTest suite to the existing Cypress framework, expanding coverage and improving maintainability.
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD testing pipelines to enable fast, reliable feedback across the engineering organisation.
- Establish and own performance testing capabilities, including selecting and implementing tools such as k6, Gatling, or JMeter, and integrating them into release processes.
- Maintain and improve test coverage reporting using JaCoCo, define coverage standards, and collaborate with engineering teams to close gaps.
- Define and champion quality engineering standards and best practices, including testability requirements, coding standards, and quality gates.
- Embed shift-left testing by working closely with product managers, developers, and architects during design and planning.
- Evaluate, introduce, and maintain static analysis, code quality, and observability tooling to support early issue identification and resolution.
- Collaborate with Senior QA Engineers and software developers to identify automation opportunities, share knowledge, and raise the quality bar across the team.

Requirements

Experience
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills with hands-on experience writing and maintaining Cypress test suites.
- Excellent knowledge of AI tooling and ability to leverage AI effectively in engineering and quality workflows, especially for framework migration.
- Solid Java knowledge sufficient to read, understand, and work within a Java/Spring Boot codebase (writing Java tests is not required).
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally including test automation stages.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as k6, Gatling, or JMeter.
- Familiarity with code coverage tooling, particularly JaCoCo.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies: unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, and performance testing.
- Experience with automated API testing.
- Proficiency with Git and version control best practices.
- Ability to define and communicate quality standards and advocate for quality engineering practices across teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and defect investigation.
- Bonus: familiarity with QFTest or experience migrating from legacy test frameworks.

About You
You are a proactive and experienced software engineer with a passion for quality and automation. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to lead initiatives that improve software quality and delivery. You have a strong analytical mindset and enjoy solving complex problems while mentoring and sharing knowledge with your team.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven track record as a software engineer with a strong quality engineering focus.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
