About the Role
As a newly qualified Solicitor, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of local residents and the success of the wider community. Working across Westminster and the neighbouring borough of Kensington & Chelsea, you will place communities at the heart of your work, thinking inclusively and creatively to keep the councils ahead of the curve. Joining this diverse and highly respected in-house legal practice offers the chance to benefit from the combined expertise of two leading councils. Under the supervision of experienced lawyers, you will manage a diverse and challenging workload, including responsibility for your own cases. This role will build on your traineeship experience to help you develop your skills and make rapid professional progress.

The Bi-Borough Legal Services Department at Westminster City Council is committed to transformative projects that regenerate boroughs and improve residents’ lives. A key example is the Church Street Estate regeneration, a vibrant area facing social and economic challenges. The masterplan aims to build 1,750 high-quality homes, create new green spaces and playgrounds, and provide services supporting community health and wellbeing. The legal team plays a vital role in supporting these initiatives, including managing complex issues such as compulsory purchase orders with sensitivity and dedication. Experience
A broad knowledge of local government law is essential. Experience working in an agile and digital environment is desirable. Strong negotiating and influencing skills are important to succeed in this role.

Qualifications
You must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx entitled to practice in England and Wales.
