About the Role
As a Solicitor within the Bi-Borough Legal Services Department at Westminster City Council, you will provide professional, procedural, and technical legal guidance, including routine advocacy on tenancy management, temporary accommodation, and other local government housing, civil litigation, commercial, and regulatory matters. Working alongside the Housing and General Litigation Team, you will undertake routine legal cases, manage more complex matters, and assist experienced Solicitors with high-profile, politically sensitive, and financially significant cases. You will be committed to delivering cost-effective, customer-focused services within a culture of continuous improvement.
The role plays a key part in supporting regeneration projects such as the Church Street Estate masterplan, which aims to improve the quality of life for residents by building high-quality homes, creating green spaces, and providing community services. Your legal expertise will contribute to managing the challenges and conflicts arising from such large-scale regeneration efforts, ensuring fair and lawful processes are followed.
Experience
A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx with demonstrable knowledge of childcare law and related legislation and case law. Experience advising on local authority duties and powers concerning children and young adults is essential. A broad knowledge of Local Government law or a willingness to learn is required.
