About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Speech and Language Therapist who enjoys working creatively and person-centred with individuals with Learning Disabilities. You will deliver Speech and Language Therapy services at both universal and individual levels as clinically required. Key responsibilities include leading service development, clinical governance, and maintaining professional standards for the Speech and Language Therapy service supporting students and their families/carers. You will provide clinical supervision to therapists and therapy assistants, develop and lead training programmes across the college, and engage in external professional development forums including research and presentations. You will collaborate with external agencies such as schools, work placements, and social services to ensure smooth transitions for students’ communication and eating/drinking needs. Managing safe eating and drinking practices through guidelines, staff training, competency sign-off, monitoring, supervision, and onward specialist referral is a critical part of the role. Additionally, you may take responsibility for designated clinical areas such as policy or clinical pathway development or project leadership as requested by the head of the IS service or clinical lead.

Experience
- Experience working with young people with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning disabilities and autistic individuals
- Competence in communication, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Experience working within an educational setting with sound competencies in eating and drinking and communication work including AAC
- Ability to work autonomously and competently in clinical areas

Qualifications
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent
- UK HCPC Registration
- Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
