About the Role
As a Sports Therapist Assistant, you will support adults with mental health conditions to access sports, health, and fitness-related activities within Newham. You will assist the Sports Therapy service in the assessment and treatment of service users with mental health conditions and complex healthcare needs. Your role will contribute to the planning, provision, development, and evaluation of the sports therapy service. You will support the Lead Sports Therapist in developing specialist physical activity research, evidence-based practice, and Clinical Governance projects aimed at improving patient care and clinical practice. Additionally, you will facilitate physical activity for adults with mental health conditions across both inpatient and community mental health services in Newham.
Experience
Experience working with adults with mental health conditions or in a healthcare or sports therapy environment is desirable.
About you
You should be motivated to support individuals with mental health conditions to engage in physical activity. You will have good communication skills, be compassionate, and able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. An interest in sports therapy, physical health, and mental wellbeing is essential.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or training in sports therapy, physical activity, mental health, or related fields are advantageous but not mandatory. A willingness to learn and develop within the role is essential.
