About the Role
The environment in which the Shell brand operates is undergoing profound transformation. Artificial intelligence increasingly shapes what people see, think, and believe about companies; media is fragmented and fast-moving; and trust, reputation and brand meaning are continuously influenced by real-world events, stakeholder expectations and cultural dynamics. In this context, decisions can no longer rely on instinct, hindsight or static reporting alone. Shell has articulated an ambitious future. Strategic Communications & Brand (SC&B) operates as one integrated team responsible for building trust, relevance and long-term value—ensuring the vision and strategy are clearly understood and consistently expressed. This creates a strong brand halo that supports the business today and a shield that protects it over time.
The Data, Insights & Intelligence (DI&I) team serves as the central nervous system of SC&B—connecting data, technology, insight and foresight to provide a continuous, real-time understanding of how Shell is experienced by stakeholders and how the world around it is changing. The team ensures that signals are translated into clear, decision-ready intelligence—so leaders understand what is happening, why it matters, and how to act with confidence to build, protect and grow trust, reputation, and enterprise value.
As a Stakeholder Intelligence Advisor you will provide an essential outside-in perspective by helping the organisation understand, quantify and track what’s truly going on in the hearts and minds of our key stakeholders and more importantly why this is so. This is a role for a senior insights professional who will shape and lead insights programs to enable the SCB teams to build data-driven communication strategies. Reporting to the Head of Stakeholder Intelligence in the DI&I Team, you will leverage audience insights combining this with data across owned and earned media channels to ensure communications objectives and business strategy are supported by data.
This role will predominantly lead Shell’s opinion research relating to its Corporate Brand advertising campaigns, including opportunities to lead on other stakeholder projects. Key responsibilities include leading robust global quantitative and qualitative opinion research to inform communications briefs, concepts, creatives and messages; advertising testing of assets prior to launch; campaign pre and post evaluations; production and maintenance of dashboards advising on relevant key metrics; supporting exploration and development of AI applications such as synthetic audiences; integrating data sources for comprehensive campaign evaluations; optimizing audience segmentations; translating data observations into actionable insights; collaborating with internal stakeholders to connect insights to real decisions and execution; engaging with colleagues globally and agency partners; managing agency partners to deliver high-quality research aligned with corporate strategy; and overseeing timelines, deliverables and performance across projects.
Shell offers the opportunity to work with talented, committed people on one of the most important challenges facing our planet. You will develop your skills in an environment valuing honesty, integrity, and respect, with flexible working hours and the possibility of remote/mobile working. Shell provides competitive salary and benefits, paid parental leave, and a diverse and inclusive culture encouraging you to be the best version of yourself. You will grow through diverse career opportunities and access a wide range of training and development programmes. Shell is committed to an inclusive, psychologically safe and accessible environment where people with disabilities can excel.
