About the Role
dunnhumby is the global leader in Customer Data Science, partnering with the world's most ambitious retailers and brands to put the customer at the heart of every decision. We combine deep insight, advanced technology, and close collaboration to help our clients grow, innovate, and deliver measurable value for their customers. Our clients include transformative, iconic brands such as Tesco, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Unilever, and Metro.

dunnhumby Network Alliance (dna) is an open, collaborative Retail and Commerce Media service designed to unify a fragmented market and unlock growth for brands, agencies, and retailers. Operating as a neutral layer across multiple retail partners, dna brings together audiences, inventory, and intelligence, enabling a single, simplified point of entry to cross-retailer media at scale. Built in partnership with Kevel and powered by dunnhumby's data and expertise, dna connects brand and performance across the full customer journey, delivering more transparent, consistent, and effective outcomes in an increasingly complex media landscape.

As the Strategic Solutions Architect (Principal), you will own the architecture that makes dna work in the real world, collaborating across dunnhumby, Kevel, retailers, and publishers. This role combines enterprise architecture and customer-facing solutioning: you will set architectural patterns and prove them through live opportunities and partner integrations.

You will own dna's target-state architecture across platform, data, integration, and security, ensuring coherence as partners are added. You will translate business, product, and partner requirements into end-to-end solution designs covering integration patterns, data flows, deployment models, and non-functional requirements. Leading the technical side of retailer and publisher onboarding, you will ensure each new partner integrates faster than the last. You will define reusable platform patterns to reduce bespoke builds and improve scalability, consistency, and cost-to-serve. Acting as the senior technical voice in partner and client conversations, including with Kevel, you will shape credible options and explain trade-offs. You will also feed delivery realities back into product and engineering teams, identifying opportunities to productise, standardise, or simplify recurring needs.

At dunnhumby, you will enjoy a comprehensive rewards package, personal flexibility including flexible working hours and your birthday off, and investment in cutting-edge technology. We foster a nimble, small-business feel that encourages experimentation and learning. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is reflected in thriving networks such as dh Gender Equality Network, dh Proud, dh Family, dh One, dh Enabled, and dh Thrive. We strive to create an environment where everyone can perform at their best and shine.

We support flexible working arrangements and encourage candidates to discuss agile working opportunities during the hiring process to help balance career and personal commitments.

Requirements

Experience
- Strong enterprise, solution, or platform architecture background across cloud, data, and integration environments.
- Fluency in AdTech and MarTech, including ad servers, SSPs and DSPs, identity, bidding, event pipelines, tagging, and closed-loop measurement.
- Proven experience integrating third-party platforms and partner ecosystems at scale, including API and data-contract design.
- Experience with clean rooms, privacy-enhancing technologies, and data collaboration across organisational boundaries.
- Customer-facing solutioning, technical pre-sales, or proof-of-concept experience with strong communication skills for commercial and leadership audiences.
- Ability to balance long-term architectural intent with pace, delivering practical designs under real delivery constraints.

About you
You are a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, able to engage with diverse stakeholders including partners, clients, and internal teams. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are motivated by solving complex technical challenges while delivering scalable, maintainable solutions. You value innovation, flexibility, and inclusivity in the workplace.

Qualifications
Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent experience in architecture, cloud platforms, data engineering, or related fields are desirable but not mandatory. A proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale solutions is essential.
