About the Role
Southwark College is seeking a proactive, organised and student-focused Student Engagement Administrator to play a key role in improving student attendance, punctuality, engagement and retention. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential.

Working closely with curriculum teams, safeguarding colleagues, learning mentors and senior leaders, you will use attendance data and student engagement information to identify concerns, implement interventions and support students to overcome barriers to learning.

As Student Engagement Administrator, you will:
- Monitor, analyse and report on student attendance and punctuality data.
- Develop and coordinate action plans to improve attendance, retention and learner engagement.
- Work directly with students, parents/carers and staff to address attendance concerns and support positive outcomes.
- Support the implementation of the College's attendance, wellbeing and safeguarding strategies.
- Organise attendance meetings, disciplinary meetings and intervention activities, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Produce detailed attendance reports for senior leaders and curriculum teams.
- Promote excellent attendance through campaigns, incentives, competitions and student engagement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with safeguarding, bursary, curriculum and student support teams to ensure students receive appropriate support.
- Help students access bursary funding, free school meals and enrichment opportunities where appropriate.

Requirements

Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification (or above) in a relevant subject such as Business Administration, Customer Service, Advice and Guidance or equivalent.
- Level 2 English and Maths.
- A safeguarding qualification or a willingness to work towards one.

Experience
- Experience supporting, mentoring or coaching young people aged 16–18.
- Experience working within education, social care, welfare or a related environment.
- Experience communicating effectively with students, parents/carers and external professionals.
- Experience using data to identify trends and drive improvements.

- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills.
- Good organisational and IT skills.
- Knowledge of attendance management and student welfare practices.
- Ability to build positive working relationships across teams.
- Resilience, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure.
- A genuine commitment to improving attendance and student outcomes.
