The University of Roehampton is recruiting to the role of an International Student Engagement Coach.

We are looking for inspirational individuals who have a passion to make a positive difference to our students, through inspirational leadership of our Student Engagement Coaches.
Our International Engagement Coaches are at the heart of our work supporting our students most ‘at-risk’ of not achieving good academic outcomes (continuation, progression and completion) and ensuring that students adhere to the Student Route Attendance and Engagement Policy. You will be responsible for monitoring and providing pro-active interventions for students with low attendance and engagement and become risk of breaching student visa and compliance requirements, while also designing engagement plans with students and working with academic colleagues and specialist professional services teams to ensure that we put in place early interventions.
International Engagement Coaches will be expected to be outstanding communicators, with a commitment to supporting every single student within their designated Academic School/Faculty. You will be a proactive, engaging, and confident in your approach, no issue will be too large or too small for you to get to grips with. You will be key in identifying trends and pattern within large data sets, designing, and implementing early interventions to ensure that students re-engage with their academic work and studies, and working with the wider and key stakeholders to drive change with the objective of improving student attendance, retention and continuation. You will lead on front facing student communication, organising and carrying out attendance meetings, early identification of pattern and tern from data, make data lead decisions and be involved in critical moments in the student journey, while providing ongoing academic support.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. To monitor the attendance of international students, and proactively arrange and lead intervention meetings when the required threshold is not being met.
2. To support international students who are at academic risk of not continuing and/or completing their studies.
3. To proactively identify trends and pattern so to engage students who may breach the Student Route Attendance and Engagement Policy.
4. To develop, manage and monitor the impact of engagement plans with students identified as ‘at-risk’ in relation to not achieving good student outcomes.
The successful candidate will have skills and experience in:
1) Previous work within education providing practical academic support and guidance to international students, or similar experience.
2) To be able to communicate in a clear, accurate and professional manner, both verbally and in writing to a range of internal and external students, staff and stakeholders.
3) Understanding of the types of issues students face and the impact these can have disengagement and progression.
4) Ability to learn administrative systems, such as SEAtS, to take a proactive approach.
