Location

Hours
37.5 hours per week on a rota Monday to Sunday including bank holiday working. Hours will range between 09:00 - 17:00 and 13:00 - 21:00. You may be required to work outside these hours as per service and resident requirements.
Salary
£28,800 per annum
About the Role
Our residents have experienced long-term street homelessness and face significant challenges including mental health issues, substance use, and alcohol dependency, often struggling to sustain engagement with support services. This role supports residents to make positive changes, enabling greater independence and recovery.
As a Support Mentor, you will work within a 24-hour service providing person-centred support to ensure residents' safety and wellbeing. You will build trusting professional relationships, helping residents achieve their goals through tailored one-to-one sessions, group activities, and wellbeing check-ins. Your focus will be on empowering residents to take control of their lives and meet personal goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating tailored support plans through one-to-one sessions, group sessions, and multi-agency meetings
- Supporting residents to achieve their desired goals and outcomes
- Empowering residents to make decisions and take control over their lives by creating an enabling environment
- Supporting residents to build independence and progress through engaging activities such as movie nights, arts and crafts, brunch club, and fully funded day trips
- Monitoring residents’ wellbeing with regular welfare checks and responding to incidents or emergencies
- Collaborating closely with the team to provide excellent service delivery, including supporting colleagues’ caseloads and other tasks as necessary
- Keeping support plans updated on online portals
- Recognising signs of deteriorating mental or physical health and initiating appropriate interventions to prevent crisis or risks
Experience
Understanding of the needs of people who have faced homelessness and complex needs including mental health, substance use, and alcohol dependency. Experience working with vulnerable adults in a support or mentoring capacity is desirable.

You should be adaptable, proactive, and able to use your initiative to resolve challenges. Teamwork skills and knowledge of residents’ needs are important. You will demonstrate cultural awareness, self-awareness, and the ability to take feedback constructively. Sensitivity, empathy, and professionalism in dealing with individual circumstances are key. Qualifications
Ability to use IT systems to record case notes, send emails, and use other software required within the role. Flexibility in working patterns to meet service and resident needs is essential. Understanding of housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs is required.
