About the Role
Can you help Southwark Council to shape a brand new leisure service that supports all its residents to lead healthy lives? This is a unique opportunity to be part of building a new future for leisure services in Southwark.
We are looking for passionate and experienced Swim Teachers to deliver swimming lessons, Southwark Splash, and school lessons to residents, members, and visitors at our centres. You will be responsible for running sessions according to the programme timetable, ensuring classes start and finish on time.
You will establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers, putting people at ease with a positive, proactive “can-do” attitude. You will comply with the Swim England Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct at all times and ensure any child safeguarding concerns are referred promptly and appropriately.
Ensuring lessons are delivered safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulations and guidance is essential. You will be passionate about continuously improving the swim lesson programme and enhancing our service to swimmers and customers. Delivering consistent excellent customer service and maintaining a professional, efficient, and cheerful presence at all times is expected.
Experience
- Experience delivering swimming lessons in a comparable role
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment, providing the highest levels of customer care

Qualifications
- Swim England Level 2 Qualification or STA Award or Certificate in Teaching Swimming (STA qualification will need to be converted to Swim England)
- ASA Old Level 1 or SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming or equivalent
- Child Protection Training and additional CPD accreditation
- Enhanced DBS check required
