The Department of Respiratory Medicine offers outpatient clinics and diagnostic services across both St Thomas' and Guy's sites, covering a broad spectrum of respiratory disorders and specialist clinics including Lung Cancer, Tuberculosis, Asthma, COPD, Pleural disease, Interstitial Lung Disease, and more. The service is supported by a multidisciplinary team including Consultants, Junior Doctors, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals, and administrators.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Team Leader to manage and lead a team of administrative staff within this busy outpatient service. This role requires excellent interpersonal and management skills, problem-solving abilities, and initiative to ensure smooth service delivery and staff development. The post holder will support the Service Manager, Deputy Service Manager, Clinical Lead, and Matron, and will be responsible for day-to-day team management, organising cover, training, onboarding, service development projects, and deputising as needed. The role involves working cross-site and offers an excellent opportunity to gain management experience in a high-performing clinical environment.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive business administration experience demonstrating understanding of key functions in providing administrative support services
- Experience working in a customer service setting
- Desirable: Significant team leader experience including staff supervision, delivering training, motivating staff, conducting appraisals, and handling basic HR issues in line with policies

About you
- Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and guide others to meet deadlines and deliver high quality service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong prioritisation and delegation abilities
- Skilled in accessing and utilising data and reports to inform service delivery
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve conflict independently
- Ability to develop good working relationships with hospital staff at all levels
- Knowledge of EPIC system
- Desirable: Awareness of and working towards national targets such as 18-week wait (18WW) and 2-week wait (2WW)

Qualifications
- Good general education including English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Evidence of formal further training in short courses and significant healthcare administration experience
- NVQ Level 3 certificate in management or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
- Desirable: NVQ Level 2 certification in Team Leading
