About the Role
At Dell Technologies, innovation means challenging assumptions and reimagining how work gets done. Within ISG, engineers define intent, author precise specifications, and orchestrate AI agents that execute at speed and scale. AI is embedded throughout our development process, accelerating progress and impact. However, the most important contribution remains uniquely human: deciding what to build, designing how it should work, and applying the judgment needed to earn our customers' trust.

As a Thermal Architect on our Engineering Technologist Team, you will help build the future of enterprise technology by shaping ground-breaking products, materials, and processes. Your work will influence product architecture and definitions, assess competition, develop technology and product strategies, and generate intellectual property. You will collaborate across the business to ensure our products lead the market.

Your responsibilities will include productizing solutions and configurations by working with customers across L10 and L11 levels, defining datacenter cooling facility requirements, and incorporating them into design. You will design liquid cooling solutions spanning different geographical areas, as well as air, liquid, and other cooling solutions based on datacenter and customer needs. You will propose BOMs and SKUs to meet technical requirements and collaborate with engineering teams to shape the offer accordingly.

This role involves working with customers in the US, EMEA, and APJ regions and partnering with technology partners, ODMs, and suppliers to develop cutting-edge thermal technologies. You will design experiments and test plans, advise on materials selection and manufacturability trade-offs, and develop best practices and templates to raise technical quality.

Requirements

Experience
15+ years of related experience in a professional role or equivalent experience. Experience leading cross-functional investigations and presenting recommendations. Proven ability to collaborate with technology partners and supply base on advanced technology development. Experience working with ODMs on mechanical, thermal, and electrical aspects of system design. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder influence skills.

About you
You are energized by solving complex systems challenges and motivated to shape what’s next rather than maintaining the status quo. You have a customer-first mindset and embrace rapid feedback to improve products and outcomes. You are able to mentor others and elevate team practices. You have the ability to travel as required.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on thermal science, fluid dynamics, or heat transfer, with 7 years of related experience (can be offset with an advanced degree). Advanced working knowledge of heat transfer, thermal testing, flow and thermal measurement techniques, and proficiency with FEA, CAD, and CFD tools. Ability to optimize thermal solutions for operating environments, business needs, and product requirements. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tolerance control for high volume production environments. Ability to author architecture specifications guiding future product development.

Desirable qualifications include a PhD or master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field. A record of publications, patents, or standards participation is preferred. Strong proficiency with statistics, modeling, and lab systems, with adherence to safety and compliance standards.
