About the Role
The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK through its work on counter-terrorism, policing, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. We are seeking a Transactions Assistant Officer to join the Finance Transactions Team to assist with the day-to-day management of the team's operations.

The Finance Transactions Team supports all areas of the Home Office with Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes, including quality assurance of requisitions, supplier set-ups, urgent payment requests, and general enquiries. Key Responsibilities
Processing compliant or rejecting non-compliant transaction requests within agreed KPIs; providing advice and guidance on compliant transactions; coaching customers to use self-service functionality; acting as first point of contact for customer enquiries via call centre and email; assisting colleagues and resolving queries; monitoring and reporting performance; ensuring accurate transaction records; reviewing personal performance; assisting in management information reporting; supporting wider team objectives and undertaking additional responsibilities as required.

Apprenticeship
This position includes completing a Level 3 Diploma in Accounting apprenticeship over approximately 15 months, with a minimum of 12 months before end-point assessment. You will spend around 20% of your time on off-the-job learning including workshops, digital courses, mentoring, and job shadowing. Successful completion awards a nationally recognised AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting - Level 3 qualification.

The apprenticeship covers accounting techniques such as cost accounting records, advanced bookkeeping, and preparation of financial reports. Eligibility requires five GCSEs grade 4-9 (A*-C), including English and Maths, and no prior Level 3 or higher accounting qualifications.

Training and Travel
Relevant training will be provided. Occasional travel may be required.

About you
You should have excellent customer service skills, good written and verbal communication, be a strong team player, keen to learn and develop, and have strong attention to detail.

Qualifications
You must have five GCSEs grade 4-9 (old system A*-C), including English and Maths. Candidates already qualified above AAT Level 3 are not eligible to apply.
