About the Role

If you're a qualified teacher with a creative flair for engaging learners, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Join our vibrant Supported Internship programme in Ealing as a part-time Tutor and be part of a supportive team dedicated to helping young people with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and/or autism access the world of work. Mencap's Supported Internships combine education and work experience to prepare learners for employment. As a Tutor, you will focus on delivering the educational element of the Supported Internships programme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating dynamic and engaging lessons that integrate English and Maths into real-world employability skills.
- Equipping learners with practical life skills to navigate their communities confidently and independently.
- Designing innovative and fun lessons that spark curiosity and foster a love of learning.
- Collaborating closely with team members to provide holistic support and help learners secure paid employment.
- Delivering accredited functional skills qualifications in English and Maths.
- Enjoying a full day each week dedicated to planning and administrative tasks to ensure the best support for learners.

Qualifications
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS) is preferred. Candidates with a Level 3 qualification and willingness to undertake a Level 5 qualification post-probation will also be considered.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above.
Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and/or autism.
- Experience delivering functional skills in English and Maths up to Level 2.
- Proven ability to deliver against targets and KPIs.
- Experience working with a diverse range of learners.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
Desirable
- Experience delivering functional skills in English and Maths.
- Experience working in a supported internship setting.
- Knowledge of employment-related skills and training.
