About the Role
Join the Guardian and be part of a diverse and inclusive global organisation delivering fearless, investigative journalism that holds power to account. As a Video Producer working across Guardian podcasts, you will collaborate with executive producers and hosts to plan, film, and edit episodes of flagship shows such as Politics Weekly, Politics Weekly America, and Science Weekly, as well as produce content for social media channels. You will cover a wide range of UK and international stories including exclusive political interviews, elections, the climate crisis, artificial intelligence, and wellness trends.

Your responsibilities will include generating ideas for podcast episodes, researching, briefing presenters and guests, filming in studio or remotely, scripting, editing and mixing to professional standards under tight deadlines. You will book on-air contributors, work closely with producers and hosts to maintain high editorial and legal standards, and contribute to other Guardian podcasts and video or social video projects as required. Additionally, you will collaborate with other Guardian departments such as marketing and membership to support discoverability and promotion of podcasts.

Experience
At least two years of experience in video podcasting or broadcast news. Proficiency with Adobe audio and video editing software, with the ability to edit smoothly and accurately at pace. Experience analysing and responding to audience data such as YouTube analytics. Experience working in video studios with multiple cameras is desirable.

About you
Strong journalistic instincts and editorial rigour with knowledge and understanding of media law. Ability to write engaging scripts and bring out the best in on-air contributors. Interest in UK and global politics, science, and technology is desirable. Comfortable recording audio and video both in studio and on location. Creativity to find new angles on major news stories and a demonstrable ability to bring diverse perspectives to the role. Proven capacity to deliver high-quality outputs under strict, recurring deadlines. An interest in and understanding of Guardian journalism, Guardian podcasts, and global Guardian audiences.
