About the Role
Join the Guardian and be part of a diverse and inclusive global organisation delivering fearless, investigative journalism that holds power to account. As a Video Producer working on politics podcasts, you will collaborate with executive producers and hosts to plan, film, and edit episodes of Politics Weekly UK. You will produce content for social feeds and other shows as required, visualising exclusive interviews such as sit-downs with key political figures. The role includes on-location filming for by-elections and creating social videos for major political moments to promote Guardian journalism.

Responsibilities include generating ideas for podcast episodes, researching, briefing presenters and guests, filming in studio or remotely, scripting, editing, and mixing to professional standards under tight deadlines. You will book on-air contributors, work closely with producers and hosts to maintain high editorial and legal standards, and contribute to other Guardian podcasts and video or social video projects. Collaboration with other departments such as marketing and membership will support discoverability and promotion of podcasts.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract or internal staff secondment role, offering a challenging and exciting environment focused on career development, training, growth, and fostering an inclusive culture.

Requirements

Experience
- At least two years' experience in video podcasting or broadcast news.
- Proficiency with Adobe audio and video editing software, able to edit smoothly and accurately at pace.
- Experience analysing and responding to audience data such as YouTube analytics.
- Experience working in video studios with multiple cameras is desirable.
