About the Role
PIMCO is a global leader in active fixed income with deep expertise across public and private markets. We invest our clients’ capital across a range of fixed income and credit opportunities, leveraging decades of experience navigating complex debt markets. Our flexible capital base and strong issuer relationships have made us one of the world’s largest providers of traditional and nontraditional financing solutions and risk-adjusted returns.

We are seeking a Vice President, Alternatives Operations Manager, to join our global Alternatives Operations team in London. This team supports PIMCO's Alternative Credit, Special Situations, and Insurance Solutions platforms, including complex private debt, distressed investments, private equity vehicles, structured financing arrangements, and separately managed accounts.

The role primarily supports European-based Portfolio Managers and investment strategies while partnering closely with teams across London, Newport Beach, New York, Austin, and Dublin. The Vice President will serve as a senior operational partner to Portfolio Management, overseeing the full lifecycle of private and originated investments—from deal execution and funding through settlement, ongoing asset maintenance, restructurings, and final exit events.

The individual will collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Treasury, Product Strategy, Tax, and third-party service providers to ensure operational readiness and a robust control environment. Responsibilities include driving operational excellence, enhancing controls, managing key service provider relationships, leading strategic initiatives, and serving as an escalation point for complex financing structures, bespoke transactions, and operational issues across European portfolios.

This role requires a strong understanding of private credit markets, complex debt structures, alternative investment operations, and project leadership within a fast-paced investment environment.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum 8-12 years supporting alternative investments, private credit, structured products, special situations, syndicated loans, or related debt products.
- Extensive experience managing complex operational processes across the lifecycle of private and originated investments.
- Strong understanding of private credit markets, loan products, restructurings, distressed debt, leveraged finance, and alternative investment structures.
- Experience supporting European investment strategies and working with European counterparties, custodians, administrators, and service providers preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing multiple stakeholders across investment, operational, and control functions.
- Strong knowledge of financing structures including leverage facilities, subscription facilities, warehouse arrangements, bespoke lending structures, and total return swaps.
- Understanding of fund accounting, investment accounting, and operational implications of lifecycle events including principal and interest processing, expenses, capital calls, and distributions.
- Proven ability to interpret credit agreements, financing documents, and legal documentation while identifying operational implications and risks.
- Strong risk management mindset with experience designing and enhancing operational controls.
- Experience overseeing outsourced service providers and establishing effective governance and oversight frameworks.
- Advanced Excel and Bloomberg proficiency required.
- Experience with data analytics, SQL, reporting tools, and operational technology platforms preferred.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional designation preferred.
