We are seeking a motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative Welfare Benefits Adviser to join our well-established Welfare Rights Team, ‘Every Pound Counts@’. You will provide benefit advice to ill and disabled vulnerable adults who are unable to access benefits services in the community.
In this role, you will conduct benefit checks and assist clients through all stages of the benefit process. The position requires expert knowledge of welfare benefits combined with an empathetic and patient approach, as many clients have serious health issues and often require home visits. Partnership working is a key element, as most referrals come from statutory services.
This is a 12-month secondment/fixed term contract opportunity.
Experience
Recent direct experience providing detailed benefits advice and undertaking benefit checks, including comprehensive knowledge of means-tested and non-means-tested benefits, disability benefits, and extensive knowledge of Universal Credit.
Experience working to deadlines and producing high-quality written submissions for reviews.
Excellent communication skills.

You will have an up-to-date and extensive knowledge of welfare rights benefits, rules, changes, and legislation.
Understanding of physical and mental health issues and their impact on individuals’ ability to claim and retain welfare benefits.
Passionate about delivering high-quality advice with empathy and patience.
Ability to work independently managing a complex and diverse workload as well as collaboratively within a team.
Committed to equity and inclusion, with a willingness to support Lambeth’s positive action provisions to promote diversity.
Qualifications
Enhanced DBS clearance is required for this post as it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
