About the Role
As a Welfare Officer within the Learner Development team, you will provide essential support and guidance to adult learners, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their goals. You will work with learners who may be homeless, vulnerable, living in temporary accommodation, or struggling with mental illness. During welcome days and enrolment periods, you will identify barriers impacting learning and manage the Learning Bursary, advising learners on welfare and wellbeing support available. You will collaborate closely with Safeguarding and all Academic and Business Support Departments to offer comprehensive learner support, including referrals to external organisations when necessary. Maintaining professionalism and confidentiality, you will engage with colleagues, learners, stakeholders, parents, carers, and guardians. You will also keep accurate records of learners and their requirements and stay informed on relevant legislation, practices, and procedures. Requirements

Experience
Familiarity with the Learner Bursary application process and experience supporting learners at risk of not completing their courses, including vulnerable individuals. Experience working in a busy office environment with strong organisational and flexible working skills. Proven ability in administrative tasks, record-keeping, and data analysis using spreadsheets and databases. Confident in writing clear and concise letters and minutes.

Able to develop working relationships at all levels to promote Curriculum areas and WAES priorities. Committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

Qualifications
Level 2 (GCSE) Maths and English. Willingness to complete Safeguarding Level 3, counselling, and/or welfare qualifications. Enhanced DBS Check required.
