About the Role
The Women’s and Girls Physiotherapist will play a key role in delivering high-quality physiotherapy services to professional and pathway Surrey Cricket Club players. The postholder will be responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, supporting athletes to optimise performance, reduce injury risk and return to play safely. Working within the Science & Medicine team, the Physiotherapist will collaborate closely with coaches, support staff and medical partners to contribute to performance, availability and player wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include advocating for high-quality healthcare provision to prepare players for elite performance within the first, 2XI and Academy teams; delivering assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries; maximising player availability through effective injury management and evidence-based rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual athletes; contributing to injury prevention strategies in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT); providing physiotherapy support to the Women’s Senior team and Academy squads as directed; attending and delivering service provision at training sessions, home and away fixtures, and overseas camps/tours as required; supporting acute injury management during these times; managing player injury and illness in collaboration with the Club Medical Officer, Head of Science & Medicine, and Senior Physiotherapist; contributing to established governance processes including medical screening, wellbeing pathways and emergency action planning; maintaining high standards of medical record-keeping in line with industry standards and ensuring timely entry onto the ECB Injury Management Database; working with the wider MDT to support player performance and development goals; communicating non-confidential headline availability and fitness status information with the Senior Physiotherapist and relevant coaches; undertaking appropriate professional development to stay abreast of world’s best practice and current evidence-based research in cricket; contributing to the Medicine Review/Audit process; and collaborating with ECB staff to co-manage international players as required.
Experience
- Experience working within an elite sport or high-performance environment is essential.
- Experience in women’s sport is desirable.
- Experience working with youth/developmental athletes in a sporting environment is desirable.
- Experience working within professional cricket is desirable.

Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP).
- Current advanced trauma management and emergency care accreditation, or ability to complete this shortly if successful.
- Full UK Driving Licence (mandatory).
- Knowledge of female athlete health considerations (e.g., RED-S, menstrual cycle awareness, bone health) is desirable.
