Admin Officer
Location
London, with flexibility to work at other local HMCTS sites/courts as required. Occasional travel to alternative Magistrates’ Court sites may be necessary. Travel costs and time will be reimbursed in line with organisational policies.
Hours
Full Time - 37 hours per week, working 5 days over a 6 day pattern including Saturdays and Public Holidays. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns where agreed prior to appointment.
Salary
£30,109 per annum
About the Role
As an Admin Officer within HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), you will play a vital role in supporting the administration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals across England and Wales. You will provide excellent administrative support and customer service to court users, judiciary, and management, helping people and businesses access justice.
Your responsibilities will include managing criminal digital files in preparation for hearings, booking interpreters, hosting video links, typing orders, and responding to queries via phone, post, or email from judiciary, professionals, or the public. You will be assigned to teams to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court or tribunal system and provide support to other HMCTS functions.
This is a customer-facing role requiring office-based work to deliver HMCTS services to the public. You will be part of a committed team dedicated to making a difference in people’s lives by ensuring justice is delivered effectively and efficiently.
Experience
Experience in administrative roles is beneficial but not essential. You should have a friendly and approachable manner with excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.

You are organised, able to prioritise efficiently, and capable of multitasking in a busy environment. You have a desire to deliver proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email. You are adaptable and comfortable using various software packages. You enjoy helping court users navigate the justice system and are committed to public service.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for this role. However, applicants allocated to Westminster Magistrates' Court must be eligible for enhanced vetting checks to CTC Level Clearance, which requires permanent UK residence for the last 3 years without living or working overseas during that time.
Additional Information
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under current immigration rules unless you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously since before 22 July 2025. Successful applicants must have and maintain the legal right to live and work in the UK Civil Service.
