Flexible hours between 08:00 and 20:00, Monday to Friday, with a rota system that may include three, four, or five day working weeks depending on service requirements. Some weekend working may be required and will be remunerated accordingly.

About the Role
You will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team developing and translating advanced MRI techniques across various field strengths (0.5T to 7T) within a cutting-edge clinical and research programme. Your responsibilities will include testing and implementing MRI protocols for clinical and research studies, ensuring strict adherence to protocols with attention to detail, and participating in quality assurance audits to maintain and improve image quality. You will communicate audit results and proactively suggest improvements. You will also be responsible for MR safety across the Advanced MRI facility, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and procedures specific to the MR environment. Providing high-quality care to patients and volunteers before, during, and after imaging procedures is essential, including obtaining informed consent and adapting techniques to individual needs while achieving research objectives.
Operational duties include screening all persons entering MRI facilities for safety, scheduling clinical scans in line with NHS targets, ensuring informed consent and ethical approvals for research scans, operating equipment safely and effectively, archiving data according to protocols, documenting scanning activities, performing quality control checks, reporting equipment faults, and liaising with administrative staff to ensure efficient bookings and accurate records. You will also maintain data security and comply with relevant health and safety, infection control, and radiation protection regulations.
Teamwork and communication are vital as you will collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues within BMEIS, KCL, GSTT, and external stakeholders. You will assist in training and supervising staff, visitors, and students, contribute to staff meetings, and engage in continuous professional development through courses, seminars, and presentations. You will also support a safe working environment by enforcing safety rules and infection control measures.
Pastoral care responsibilities include being sensitive and responsive to the needs of staff, patients, volunteers, students, and external stakeholders, offering support and advice as appropriate. The role requires flexibility, adherence to high standards of information governance, and compliance with occupational health clearance and mandatory training requirements.
Experience
Experience in MRI research or clinical imaging is desirable. Proven ability to work accurately and consistently within protocols and to perform quality assurance audits. Experience in MR safety management and working with high field strength MRI scanners is advantageous.

Qualifications
Relevant radiography or imaging qualification required. Occupational Health clearance is mandatory. Compliance with mandatory training including infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is required. Knowledge of MRI safety guidelines and procedures is essential.
