About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Tower Hamlets Youth Service during a time of transformation and growth. The Sport & Adventure Learning Team offers a wide range of engaging adventure activities including canoeing, kayaking, indoor rock climbing, mountain biking, inclusive cycling, BMX, skateboarding, skating, artificial caving, and archery. The team also manages the borough's Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) programme, including expedition delivery and management.
We are recruiting three full-time Adventure Sport Coaches to focus on either rock climbing or other adventurous activities within the adventure learning programme, or DofE delivery including walking expeditions. Key responsibilities include leading and developing rock climbing activities such as GCSE PE Rock Climbing and NICAS Climbing and Bouldering, managing and delivering safe DofE expeditions, supporting the wider Adventure Learning Programme, and delivering high-quality outdoor sport and activity sessions to schools, youth groups, and the local community.
The role involves planning, monitoring, risk management, and evaluation of sessions and expeditions, as well as acting as an instructor and mentor to help young people achieve their DofE goals safely and successfully.
Experience
- Experience working with young people in an inner-city environment is essential.
- Proven ability to deliver adventurous activities and manage outdoor expeditions.

Qualifications
- National Governing Body qualification in one or more adventurous activities, with priority given to rock climbing and DofE expeditions (e.g. Climbing Wall Instructor and/or Lowland Leader Award).
- Outdoor First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of appointment.
