About the Role
Support people through mental health challenges and help shape better lives across our borough. In this vital role, you’ll work directly with residents, offering care, guidance and crisis support that makes a real difference in their lives. Whether coordinating support plans or responding to urgent needs, your work will have a lasting impact on individuals, families and the wider community.
You will work directly with adults and young people experiencing mental health difficulties, assessing whether a formal assessment under the Mental Health Act 1983 (MHA) is required or if other least restrictive options are appropriate. You will respond promptly to MHA requests, manage risks, and liaise with partner agencies to plan suitable interventions ensuring safety for all involved.
Responding to urgent referrals, you will coordinate assessments and provide interventions to meet immediate needs. You will attend assessments and act independently in urgent, high-stakes situations, regularly receiving referrals from Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, the local National Eating Disorder Service at Vincent Square, and local CAMHS inpatient wards.
Additional responsibilities include completing statutory work timely, attending court for s135(1) warrants, applying a team approach, contributing to allocated work, and ensuring the service operates safely and responsively.
You will have opportunities to be a Practice Assessor for AMHP Trainees, support newly qualified AMHPs on the rota, and provide guidance to partner agencies.
This role requires an Enhanced DBS with Adults and Child Barred List.
