As an AML Financial Crime Investigator, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our financial crime prevention efforts. You will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and mitigating potential financial crime risks including money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance related to financial crime.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough investigations of transaction monitoring alerts, including sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), and adverse media alerts
- Managing AML, Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), and fraud investigations from initiation to conclusion, including preparing and submitting Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
- Proactively analysing data to identify emerging financial crime trends and enhancing detection and prevention strategies
- Collaborating with other financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, and internal departments to support financial crime prevention
- Handling escalations from the Customer Service team by providing expert advice to mitigate risks and resolve issues
- Supporting continuous improvement of financial crime prevention processes, systems, and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness
Experience
- Proven experience in investigating and mitigating financial crime risks including money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud
- Strong understanding of AML, CTF, sanctions, and compliance regulations
- Hands-on experience investigating transaction monitoring alerts, sanctions, PEP, and adverse media cases
- Proficiency in preparing and submitting Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
- Ability to conduct trend analysis to identify emerging risks and improve prevention strategies
- Experience collaborating with law enforcement, financial institutions, and internal teams
- Ability to handle escalations from Customer Service with expert advice and practical solutions
- Track record of improving processes, systems, and procedures to enhance compliance and efficiency
- Meticulous attention to detail in investigations and regulatory documentation

Qualifications
- Certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) are highly desirable
- Familiarity with financial crime detection tools and technologies
- Prior experience in a financial institution or compliance-focused role is preferred
