About the Role
Join the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) and contribute to impactful projects that improve housing, local government, and communities across the UK. As an Analytical Products Software Developer, you will be part of a diverse and innovative team creating interactive data visualisation dashboards using Python and Plotly Dash. Working in an Agile environment, you will collaborate closely with analysts and developers through pair programming to deliver high-quality, accessible, and secure data solutions that support policy outcomes, including tracking the delivery of 1.5 million homes.
Your role will involve developing and maintaining scalable dashboards, managing source control and deployment workflows using GitHub and Azure DevOps, and applying test-driven development practices to ensure robust and maintainable code. You will help drive continuous improvement by adopting industry best practices and sharing knowledge across the team. Your work will directly influence government transparency and efficiency, with outputs reaching senior decision-makers including the Prime Minister.

Experience
- Proficiency in Python programming and experience developing web applications using Plotly Dash or similar frameworks
- Strong skills in HTML, CSS, React, JavaScript or similar front-end technologies
- Experience with collaborative version control systems such as GitHub and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools to track website performance and mitigate security risks
- Experience setting up metrics and improving production pathways to enhance service standards
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and pair programming practices
- Ability to write comprehensive tests including unit, integration, and visual tests
