About the Role
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society. As an Applied AI Architect on the Public Sector team, you will act as a pre-sales technical advisor focused on UK and Northern Europe public sector organisations, primarily UK Central Government departments, executive agencies, and arm’s length bodies. Your role will extend to devolved administrations, local government, the NHS, and Northern European public sector markets.

You will help these organisations understand the value of Claude and envision how to integrate and deploy it to modernise operations, improve policy delivery, and transform citizen services. Combining deep technical expertise with customer-facing skills, you will architect innovative large language model (LLM) solutions that address complex mission challenges while upholding high standards of safety and reliability.

Working closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Partnerships teams, you will guide customers from initial technical discovery through deployment. You will help customers understand Claude’s capabilities, develop evaluation frameworks, and design scalable, compliant architectures aligned with public sector security and governance standards.

Requirements

Experience
- 5+ years in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or Technical Account Manager.

- Familiarity with UK public procurement frameworks (e.g., G-Cloud, AI Dynamic Purchasing System, Digital Outcomes, Crown Commercial Service agreements) and experience collaborating with systems integrators and delivery partners.
- Proven ability to navigate complex public sector buying cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience designing scalable cloud architectures and integrating with enterprise systems.
- Comfortable with Python and familiar with common LLM frameworks or background in machine learning or data science.

About You
- Active UK Security Check (SC) clearance with willingness and eligibility for higher clearance levels (e.g., DV) as required.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences including senior civil servants, C-suite executives, engineering, and IT teams.
- Passionate about cross-organisational collaboration, balancing competing priorities, and mentoring others.
- Creative thinker dedicated to advancing safe and beneficial AI systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to translate complex topics into clear, understandable terms.
