About the Role
The Assistant Clubhouse Manager supports the Clubhouse Manager in the day-to-day leadership and smooth operation of the clubhouse, including food & beverage service, staffing, stock control, and facility standards. This is a hands-on operational role focused on delivering an outstanding experience for members, guests, and visitors in one of the most unique and historic golf settings in the country. Responsibilities include supporting daily management of the restaurant, bar, terrace, and function areas, ensuring high-quality service delivery and presentation standards, managing staffing rotas, briefings, supervision, and training, overseeing stock ordering, supplier coordination, and cost control, and maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the clubhouse. The role also involves ensuring compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations, and supporting reporting on operational performance and clubhouse metrics. This position requires a proactive, adaptable, and leadership-oriented individual passionate about delivering exceptional hospitality in a premium, historic venue.
Experience
2-3 years experience in hospitality management or assistant management roles, preferably within premium venues, golf clubs, country clubs, or hotels. Proven track record delivering high-quality food and beverage service, with experience managing a team in a busy hospitality environment. Strong operational experience in food & beverage service, including restaurant/bar management, stock control, and team supervision.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service abilities — outgoing, approachable, and empathetic to build rapport with members, guests, clients, and team members. Commercial awareness, including upselling opportunities, cost control, and understanding profit margins in food and beverage operations. Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure, able to handle unexpected issues and last-minute changes effectively. Leadership-oriented with the ability to supervise, motivate, train, and develop a team while fostering a positive, collaborative culture. Detail-oriented and meticulous, with a high standard of personal presentation and eye for maintaining clubhouse standards. Flexible and reliable, willing to work variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications
Solid knowledge of food & beverage operations, supplier management, inventory control, and maintaining high presentation/hygiene standards. Proficiency in booking and EPOS systems, Microsoft Office, and basic reporting for operational metrics. Understanding of health & safety, food hygiene (Level 2/3 certification desirable), licensing regulations, and compliance in a licensed venue. Relevant qualifications such as food hygiene, supervisory management, or hospitality certifications are desirable.
