About the Role
We are seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the Finance Function within the Finance & Commercial Group. This permanent, full-time role supports the production of accurate financial information and ensures compliance with financial controls and reporting requirements. You will contribute to month-end and year-end processes, reconciliations, and audit activities, playing a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the Agency's financial records. The role offers a strong foundation for developing a professional career in financial accounting.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enhances and improves the health of millions every day through effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The Finance and Commercial Group provides financial, commercial, and procurement leadership to support MHRA's mission, ensuring strong stewardship of public resources and robust governance.
MHRA is implementing a flexible hybrid working model requiring a minimum of 8 days per month on site, with flexibility up to 12 days depending on business needs, to enable collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders.
Experience
- Experience working within a finance environment, applying financial knowledge and analytical skills to support reporting and improve performance.
- Experience of financial teams with a track record of improving performance through technical know-how and analytical skills.
- Financial accounting experience, preferably in the public sector.
- Proven experience delivering value-added financial reporting that supports decision making.

Qualifications
- AAT Level 4 qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification such as CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, or CFA.
- Knowledge of ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle Fusion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
