About the Role
As an Occupational Therapy (OT) Assistant Team Manager within the London Borough of Sutton’s Adult First Contact Service, you will lead a multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists and Enabling Independence Officers. Your role focuses on delivering an exceptional, person-centred service by screening and prioritising referrals, proactively managing risk, and promoting resident independence through a preventative, strength-based approach.

You will provide essential management, quality assurance, and supervision to ensure statutory compliance and high standards of practice. By fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement, you will mentor staff, share best practices, and apply legislative frameworks to service delivery. Collaboration with health partners, community groups, and residents is key to facilitating positive, holistic outcomes, including completing assessments and recommending appropriate equipment and adaptations to maintain independence and mitigate risks.

Requirements

Experience
Significant experience as a registered Occupational Therapist in a Local Authority or community setting. Expertise in major adaptations, complex moving and handling, and holistic assessments for equipment and housing support. Proven ability to manage and supervise multidisciplinary teams and deliver statutory compliant services.

Enthusiastic and motivated practitioner committed to facilitating resident well-being and independence. Strong knowledge of safeguarding principles and relevant legislation. Ability to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with health partners, community groups, and residents.

Qualifications
Degree-level qualification in Occupational Therapy. Current and valid HCPC registration.
