About the Role
As an Associate – Portfolio Management, you will play a key role in driving excellence across global, national, or regional portfolios by converting strategy into delivery, optimising portfolio performance, and driving strategic capital planning. You will lead and be part of high-performing Portfolio and Portfolio Management Office teams, establishing governance, controls, and disciplines to enable efficient delivery across complex portfolios, programmes, and projects. Your role involves setting up and delivering the structure, behaviours, and performance needed to realise successful portfolio outcomes and build stakeholder confidence through best practice methods and standardised, integrated, and scalable ways of working.
You will lead by example, providing assurance, challenge, and insight into portfolio performance while ensuring compliance with contractual, commercial, financial, and risk management requirements. You will drive transparency, accountability, and consistency across portfolios, champion continuous improvement, and contribute to informed decision-making and effective portfolio controls. Your delivery approach will establish and maintain a culture of operational excellence and high-quality client service.
As a trusted advisor and key interface for portfolio delivery teams and senior client stakeholders, you will materially contribute to a culture of operational excellence, strategically aligned portfolios, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate high-performing teams to deliver portfolio success and cohesion, turning strategy into measurable outcomes.
- Shape, embed, and communicate portfolio direction aligned with organisational behaviours.
- Collaborate with internal and client leads to support sustained strategic performance and business value.
- Evaluate portfolio current state through gap analysis, create roadmaps, and lead teams to deliver optimised future states.
- Establish and embed portfolio management and control frameworks ensuring rigor, compliance, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders, clients, and stakeholders as a collaborative partner and advisor.
- Proactively collaborate across stakeholder groups to deliver innovative and integrated solutions.
- Manage portfolio risks including health and safety considerations, leading risk identification, escalation, and mitigation.
- Drive financial management processes including CapEx performance, budget tracking, cost reporting, and financial risk visibility.
- Contribute to commission management and business development, ensuring contractual and commercial compliance and identifying growth opportunities.
- Act as a positive cultural influence, mentor teams, drive inclusion, and manage people to enhance team performance and growth.
Experience
- Proven portfolio and/or programme management experience in large-scale or high-profile real estate transformation projects.
- Strong working knowledge of portfolio and programme management methodologies and governance frameworks.
- Experience in performance optimisation initiatives and managing capital investment plans.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee delivery of outcomes with best practice and high standards.
- Leadership experience within portfolio/programme teams, contributing to high-performing cultures.
- Proven ability to build successful delivery partnerships and trusted stakeholder relationships.
- Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining delivery performance and appropriate behaviours.
- Proficient in portfolio/programme financial performance management including reporting, budget tracking, and cost control.
- Awareness of procurement methodologies, contract forms, and commercial frameworks.
- Experience contributing to business development and procurement activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, programme management tools, reporting systems, and digital platforms with a proactive approach to innovation and technology adoption.

Qualifications
- Accreditation or strong working knowledge of portfolio and/or programme management methodologies.
- Professional membership in a relevant field.
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is desirable.
