About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the award-winning BBC Studios Audio team as an Audio Technical Producer (Sound Designer). You will play a key role in crafting distinctive, high-quality sound for podcasts and audio productions, shaping the sonic identity of content from concept through to final delivery. Working closely with editorial teams, you will elevate storytelling for UK and global audiences across a varied slate of ambitious podcasts and audio content for BBC Sounds and commercial platforms such as Audible, iHeart, CBC, and ABC.
You will create original sound design, music, and audio elements that enhance storytelling and audience engagement, compose original music and themes, and record, edit, mix, and master audio to a professional standard. You will collaborate with producers and editors to interpret briefs, plan and manage studio sessions, location recordings, and post-production workflows, ensuring all audio meets technical, editorial, and accessibility standards. Experience
- Proven sound design, technical production, or audio engineering experience in podcast, radio, or audio programming for commercial and public service platforms.
- Paid work experience with platforms such as BBC, CBC, ABC, Audible, Wondery, Global, iHeart, SiriusXM, or leading independent production companies.
- Ability to engineer audio content to broadcast specification standards.
- Strong skills in sound design and audio editing using DAWs such as Pro Tools, Reaper, or Adobe Audition.
- Excellent critical listening and understanding of audio storytelling.
- Knowledge of recording techniques, mixing, mastering, and audio standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple projects.

Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in audio, music technology, or a related field is desirable but not required.
