About the Role
Operations is at the heart of everything Amazon does, and automation is one of the key ways we optimize our processes. As an Automation Engineer, you will ensure that our automated systems are operating at peak performance so customers receive their orders on time. You will analyze data from control systems to sensors to maximize equipment availability across sites. This role places you at the forefront of Amazon's emerging technology, solving complex productivity challenges.
Your key responsibilities will include monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing issues with critical systems; working with the EU Controls network to monitor Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics; providing data visualizations for internal stakeholders; participating in continuous improvement projects; ensuring accurate system documentation and backup libraries; collaborating with global colleagues to install and commission new equipment; supporting other sites within the EU Controls network; and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings to develop improvement strategies for code conforming to IEC 61131-3.
In your day-to-day work, you will be the site expert on keeping automated systems such as conveyors and sortation systems running smoothly and efficiently. You will lead problem-solving efforts and implement solutions, while also training Engineering Technicians on device troubleshooting and preventative maintenance to maintain system reliability.
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team you will join is a technically skilled group focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment across Amazon’s global fulfillment centers. The team works with cutting-edge technology including automated packaging systems, Amazon Robotics, and complex item sorters. There are strong opportunities for career progression within the RME team and across Amazon.
Our work ensures minimal downtime in critical operations sites, enabling timely delivery to customers. We often work outside regular hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, and we encourage innovation to develop new processes and technologies.
