About the Role
Hackney is a vibrant London Borough and one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of the best places to live and work. We have transformed the reputation of both the Council and Hackney itself, with outstanding services, schools, and public spaces. Due to growth in various developments, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual, preferably with substantial Building Regulations experience, to join our dynamic and high-performing Building Control Team.

This is a career progressive role offering valuable experience across a wide spectrum of small, medium, and large complex construction projects. You will work closely with Principal and Senior Building Control Surveyors to deliver a high-quality service to clients and ensure the Council's statutory functions are effectively discharged.

You will enjoy stimulating and varied work where no two days are the same, within a supportive environment offering opportunities for personal development and professional growth. As a Chartered professional (or working towards chartership) with RICS, CABE, or CIOB, you will bring construction industry experience and knowledge of Building Control across a broad range of buildings. You will play an integral role in making pragmatic and value-based decisions on compliance with Building Regulations, driving forward new schemes within the Borough and helping turn our vision into reality.

The successful candidate will hold a clean, current driving licence and have use of their own car. You will contribute to delivering an efficient and effective Building Control service, including making decisions on allocated Building Regulation applications, notices, and matters as directed by the Building Control Manager, enabling quality developments in line with legislation, industry performance guidelines, and internal targets.

Hackney Council values its staff as its most outstanding asset, committed to serving residents and achieving organisational goals. We strive to be a place where everyone feels valued, included, and involved, celebrating diversity and fostering a culture that is proud, ambitious, pioneering, open, proactive, and inclusive.

Committed to delivering high-quality service and continuous professional development. Embraces the Council’s values of being proud, ambitious, pioneering, open, proactive, and inclusive.
