Building Surveyor Repairs and Maintenance West
Location
London, Stratford office with working coverage across the West region including North London, Brent, Slough, Reading and surrounding areas.

Full Time - 35 hours per week
Salary
£48,000 to £55,000 per annum (London weighted salary) depending on experience plus Essential Car User allowance of £1,300 per annum
About the Role
Join the Maintenance Services team at London and Quadrant Housing Trust as an experienced Building Surveyor covering the West region. This key role involves carrying out internal and external inspections on both occupied and void properties, providing technical advice, and managing complex projects. You will liaise with residents, contractors, and other third parties to ensure quality, value for money, and customer satisfaction.
You will conduct detailed property inspections across various domestic properties, addressing routine and complex repairs, Damp & Mould surveys, and specifying appropriate remedial works. Producing work specifications, costings, and condition reports will be a core part of your responsibilities.
Customer service is central to this role, requiring you to handle complaints, Councillor and MP enquiries, and support the Disrepair team. You will manage budgets, oversee variation approvals, and ensure compliance with standing orders and fraud prevention.
Experience liaising with loss adjusters and managing insurance-related works such as fire, flood damage, and theft is essential. Health and safety awareness and application are vital, alongside excellent communication skills to influence internal and external stakeholders and manage contracts effectively.
This role offers agile working with 20% to 40% of contractual hours worked from the reporting office or site.

Experience
- Extensive experience producing work specifications and cost recommendations
- Proven ability to undertake complex property inspections and create itemised work specifications
- Experience working with varied housing stock, ideally within social housing or a similar environment
- Knowledge of contract and housing law
- Experience managing budgets and variation approval processes
- Experience liaising with loss adjusters and managing insurance works
- Strong health and safety knowledge and compliance
- Experience working with contractors and managing contracts
- Confident handling complaints and enquiries from residents, Councillors, and MPs

Qualifications
- Ideally hold a HNC, HND or similar qualification in surveying or related discipline
