As a Category Specialist, you’ll lead procurement and commercial activity across construction and asset management categories. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering value for money, driving commercial excellence, and supporting strategic commissioning across the Council.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll manage complex procurement projects end-to-end, advise senior stakeholders, and embed best practice contract and supplier relationship management.
Key responsibilities include leading procurement projects in construction, estates, and hard FM from scoping to contract award, developing and implementing category strategies aligned with corporate priorities, providing expert advice on contract forms, procurement methods, and negotiation strategies, influencing senior stakeholders and ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, monitoring supplier performance and resolving contract issues, and delivering training and workshops to internal teams and stakeholders.

Experience
- Proven experience in construction and estates procurement, including contract management.
- Strong understanding of industry-standard contract forms and risk management.
- Experience with public procurement regulations and eTender systems (e.g., Atamis).
- Ability to manage demanding stakeholders and maintain project timelines.

Qualifications
- Degree-level education or equivalent.
- Professional qualifications such as CIPS are desirable.
