About the Role
As a Clinical Support Worker within the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS), you will follow plans of care and undertake a range of allocated duties related to direct or indirect service user support and care. You will care for the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, cultural, and recreational needs of service users within a defined healthcare programme, ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity at all times. You will encourage service users to take an optimum level of responsibility for their individual care programme and, with their consent where appropriate, seek the cooperation of carers, relatives, and friends.
You will observe and report any changes in service users’ wellbeing and undertake routine observations required for physical health management. Maintaining timely and accurate service user records under supervision and in line with Trust and service line policies is essential. You will communicate positively and respectfully with service users and their carers or relatives, ascertaining their needs and assisting as appropriate.
Contributing to the assessment of service users’ health and social care needs by participating in assessment processes, including assisting in initial data collection and monitoring patient progress, is a key part of the role. You will report clearly at team care reviews and contribute towards the ongoing quality of service and care. Identifying any risk issues related to service users’ health and social care and promptly informing the team or supervisor is required to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Experience
Previous experience in a healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential. A willingness to learn and develop skills in mental health care is important.
