About the Role
AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring continuous access to innovative cloud services. As a Colo Physical Security Architect, you will collaborate with Colocation Vendor partners to design secure, resilient, and cost-effective Data Center facilities across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. You will lead security designs for Colocation data centers, influence global security standards, and work closely with Architects, Engineers, and Designers to solve complex challenges and improve security posture.

In this role, you will provide technical guidance, develop and communicate security design requirements, and collaborate with AWS Security Teams, Management, and Vendor partners. You will stay current with new technologies and security measures, applying your knowledge of physical security principles and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) to enhance AWS’s security standards.

Key responsibilities include leading physical security design elements such as cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, and gates; collaborating on design standards and cost-risk evaluations; communicating designs to stakeholders; maintaining basis of design documents and prototype specifications; creating security design scopes for project RFPs; reviewing consultant work; managing multiple projects; and traveling up to 25% for site assessments and meetings.

Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering within mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
- Experience in commissioning
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

About you
- Strong knowledge of physical security principles and practical application
- Familiarity with Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED)
- Ability to lead design projects and manage multiple fast-paced assignments
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for site assessments and meetings

Qualifications
- Professional Engineer License (preferred)
- Experience with regional building codes and regulations (preferred)
- Proven ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment
- Skilled in reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification (preferred)
- CPTED certification (preferred)
