About the Role
As a Commercial Properties Officer, you'll play a key role in managing and shaping the commercial spaces within our estates. These spaces are more than just ground-floor units - they are vital to creating vibrant, inclusive communities where people can thrive. You will deliver a professional and compliant property management service, balancing placemaking priorities with commercial viability to generate income that supports housing and community programmes.
Your responsibilities will include managing commercial properties to a high standard, ensuring compliance and excellent service for all tenants. You will monitor arrears, collection rates, and property inspections to meet financial and service KPIs. Handling rent and service charge billing, lease renewals, and rent reviews promptly and accurately will be key tasks.
Building strong relationships with tenants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams is essential. You will ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Building Safety, and Fire Safety regulations, maintain accurate records of leases, tenancies, and property details to ensure continuity of service.
Additionally, you will review supplier contracts to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency, manage repairs, cyclical works, and tenant fit-outs liaising with surveyors and contractors as needed. Developing strategies to let or sell commercial units, maximising value while complementing residential uses, and supporting initiatives that integrate commercial spaces into thriving communities and promote creative uses are also part of this role.
Once you join us, you'll find plenty of opportunities to grow within our organisation. You'll also have access to a wide range of learning opportunities to help you achieve and maximise your potential.
Benefits include excellent annual leave allowance and flexible working opportunities (qualifying period may apply), generous pension scheme, enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay in addition to statutory entitlements (qualifying period may apply), employee assistance with free confidential advice and counselling services, health cash plan, staff discounts at hundreds of major retailers, gyms, restaurants, entertainment and more, interest free loans (season ticket loan, tenancy deposit loan, and training loan), cycle to work scheme, and life assurance at four times annual salary.
Experience
Degree or equivalent experience in property management, real estate, or a related field. Experience in commercial and residential property management within housing or mixed-use environments. Strong understanding of commercial property legislation and landlord/tenant regulations. Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service and manage complex projects. Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
About you
Passionate, enthusiastic, and talented individual committed to adding value to a thriving organisation. Ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with tenants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams. Adaptable to hybrid working arrangements and motivated to support community-focused placemaking initiatives.
